Gocasual Biography

Hailing from southern Maine, the members of Gocasual had played together in various groups during high school until the band finally coalesced into a stable form in 2001. During the fall of 2002, Gocasual recorded its first album, a self-titled 8-song CD. Released in the winter of 2003, the disc slowly gathered a loyal fan base for the band. With live shows full of contagious energy, Gocasual continues to grow.

With the members of Gocasual attending different colleges across New England, the band had to limit their playing to weekends and school vacations, making it difficult to maintain a steady momentum. Three years since recording their debut album, the members of Gocasual had all graduated from college and recorded the follow-up to their self-titled release.

'The Whole Time I Knew You' is Gocasual's second EP. It features seven tracks charged with high energy and blazing guitars. The band credits its musical influence to a wide variety of acts: Saves the Day, the June Spirit, the Movielife, and Senses Fail are just a few examples to what Gocasual's sound has been compared. The band recruited highly capable and locally renowned Jonathan Wyman to record, mix, and produce the album. Following Wyman's work, Grammy Award-winning Adam Ayan of Gateway Mastering in Portland, ME subsequently mastered the CD.

The seven highly invigorating songs of 'The Whole Time I Knew You' convey the growth and progression of Gocasual, both lyrically and musically. Songs such as 'Baby, You're Bad News' and 'More Regrets, Please' chronicle the tale of failing relationships, the kind that are doomed from the start. On other tracks, 'Honesty is the Worst Policy' and 'I'm Only Good for One Kind of Fun,' vocalist Mike Larrabee laments a seemingly self-inflicted downward spiral of social conduct with crooning lines, such as "the only medication left is amputation," and "I wish I could be decent for once."

Combining musical maturity, a focus on lyrical sophistication, a unique melodic style, and raw punk rock aggression, 'The Whole Time I Knew You' reflects the growth of one of southern Maine's favorite rock groups. The band combines a genuine love for playing and unfailing dedication to performing that is reflected in their upbeat songs and compelling live shows. Gocasual is tireless in continually developing their music, dedicating them to performing for anyone who will listen, and, most of all, having fun. Gocasual's sophomore release has inspired many more fans to tune in. 'The Whole Time I Knew You' hit stores and websites in May of 2006 and is available through many online vendors, including iTunes. 'The Whole Time I Knew You' has been acclaimed by many local newspapers and has been played on radio stations throughout New England.

During the summer of 2006, longtime drummer and friend Andre Tranchemontagne amicably parted ways and was replaced by Kenny Larrabee, brother of our Gocasual vocalist Mike Larrabee. This smooth transition opened new creative doors for the band and continued to improve upon the sound.

In the fall of 2006, three of the five members of Gocasual moved to the Boston area and began playing many of the numerous venues in the area, such as the Middle East in Cambridge. This expansion garnered the guys more friends for their increasing fan base. Momentum was temporarily impeded by the departure of guitarist Pete Levesque in the spring of 2007 to pursue other endeavors.

Not to be daunted for too long, the band began adapting their songs for one guitar, which was an unexpected opportunity to really tighten the foundation of Gocasual's music. Continuing to hone their song-writing skills, the guys penned more ideas. During the fall of 2007, Gocasual was chosen as a semifinalist out of more than 70 bands to compete in the Ryan J. Lariviere Memorial Fund Battle of the Bands in Plymouth, MA.

At the close of 2007, the band moved its base of operations back to Maine. Recently, Gocasual has signed with Management Company 207 Entertainment (http://www.207ent.net) and looks forward to the numerous opportunities available. In March of 2008, the band recruited highly adept guitarist Nick Corns to expand upon their current sound and to explore more musical possibilities. The future looks bright for Gocasual as the band takes things to the next level.
